How Windows of Hope collects, uses and protects your personal information.
01Who we are
Windows of Hope International Children’s Ministry (“Windows of Hope”, “we”, “us”) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, faith-based Christian organization in the US and a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Uganda. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you visit our website, make a donation, sponsor a child or contact us.
02Information we collect
We only collect the information we need to process your gift, support your sponsorship and keep in touch with you. This may include:
- Your name, email address, phone number and mailing address
- Donation and sponsorship details, such as amount, frequency and the program you support
- Letters and messages you send to us or to a sponsored child
- Your email address if you subscribe to our newsletter
- Basic technical information, such as browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies
03How we use your information
- To process donations and send tax receipts
- To manage your sponsorship and pass letters, photos and progress reports between you and your sponsored child
- To send newsletters and updates on our causes, if you have asked to receive them
- To answer your questions and requests
- To keep accurate records as required by law
04Payments
Online donations are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. Your card details are encrypted and sent directly to Stripe; we do not store your full card number on our servers. T-shirt purchases are handled by a third-party store, which has its own privacy policy.
05Sharing your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run our ministry, such as payment processing and email delivery, and only as needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information when required by law.
06Children’s information
We take special care with information about the children in our programs. Photos, names and stories of children are shared with sponsors and on our website only to support their care and sponsorship, and we do not publish details that could put a child at risk. Sponsors agree not to share their child’s personal details publicly. Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information online.
07Cookies
Our website uses cookies to keep it working properly and to understand how visitors use it. You can turn off cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site, such as the donation form or the shop, may not work as expected.
08Keeping your information safe
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse or unauthorized access. No method of sending information over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.
09Your choices
You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you newsletters. Every newsletter also includes a link to unsubscribe.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
